Zero Gravity Works is a Milan-based company building Europe's first platform to manufacture small-molecule pharmaceutical crystals in orbit — the only Italian operator in this emerging field.
Zero Gravity Works operates as the hub of a scientific and industrial network: more than a dozen scientists, engineers and industry advisors across eight universities, working with us on molecule assessment, solid-state science, module engineering and pharmacoeconomics.
Two anchor partnerships carry the core disciplines. The University of Pavia is our lead scientific partner for solid-state pharmaceutics and characterisation. The Politecnico di Milano leads module engineering through a dedicated, fully-funded PhD programme in its Mechatronics and Robotics group. Around them, advisors from the universities of Bologna, Parma, Modena & Reggio Emilia, Milan and Trento cover solid-state pharmaceutics, microgravity R&D and pharmacoeconomics — alongside industry advisors from the pharmaceutical and engineering worlds, including SEGULA Technologies as engineering partner.
ZGW was selected by ESA BIC Milan, the European Space Agency's business incubation programme, and its module engineering PhD is funded through the TEF programme. We build on Europe's commercial space supply chain — launch, spacecraft and re-entry capability all exist today as services we integrate with.
